Barretts January sale: Hips to watch

Hip No. 15, dk. b. or br. f., 2017, Lucky Pulpit—Awesome Liberty, by Awesome Again, consigned by Easterbrook Livestock Management, agent for Dahlberg Farm.

The lone yearling in the sale by the late California sire Lucky Pulpit. She hails from the family of U.S. champion My Juliet, Japanese champion Diamond Biko, South African champion Kimberly Mine, and Grade 1 winners Stella Madrid and Lilacs and Lace.

Hip No. 25, City Angel, dk. b. or br. m., 2011, City Zip—Magical Maiden, by Lord Avie, consigned by McKee Bloodstock.

A placed mare, offered in foal to Creative Cause, whose first foal is a juvenile. Her dam, Magical Maiden, is a Grade 1 winner whose two graded stakes-producing daughters include Grade 1 winner Miss Houdini, the dam of Papa Clem.

Hip No. 43, Hamish Hy, dk. b. or br. h., 2007, Ecton Park—Tifonica, by Equalize, consigned by Harris Farms, agent.

A Grade 1-winning stallion whose first foals are yearlings. Argentine Group 1 winners Tifosi and Brillante OK are in the extended family.

Hip No. 55, Princessofthenile, b. m., 2011, Pioneerof the Nile—Princess Two, by Two Punch, consigned by McKee Bloodstock.

Offered in foal to Animal Kingdom, this unraced mare’s first foal is a yearling. Irish classic-placed Hypermetric can be found on her page.

Hip No. 79, Tea Cakes, ch. m., 2003, Moscow Ballet—Kokomotion, by Exclusive Encore, consigned by Harris Farms, agent.

The dam of stakes-placed Codatious, by Desert Code, goes through the ring carrying a full sibling to Codatious.

Hip No. 190, Inordinate, b. h., 2012, Harlan’s Holiday—Out of Reach, by Warning, consigned by Havens Bloodstock Agency, agent.

This racing or stallion prospect won last year’s Grade 3 San Juan Capistrano Stakes and was Group 3-placed in France.

Hip No. 199, Tokheim Tizzy, b. f., 2014, Tiznow—Indy Miss, by A.P. Indy, consigned by Havens Bloodstock Agency, agent.

Unplaced in one start, this filly’s second dam is Argentine champion Campagnarde, whose produce record includes Grade 2 winners Rize and Lovely Rafaela and multiple Argentine Group 1 producer Union Camp.
