DRF Breeding Staff|May 20, 2013
Unusual Hottie wins the Fran's Valentine Stakes
Benoit & Associates Unusual Hottie, winner of the Fran's Valentine, was one of three Barretts October yearling sales grads to win on Saturday at Hollywood Park.

A trio of graduates from the Barretts October yearling sale found the winners’ circle on Saturday at Betfair Hollywood Park, including Unusual Hottie, winner of the Fran’s Valentine Stakes.

Unusual Hottie, a $22,000 RNA out of the 2010 October sale, won the $100,500 Fran’s Valentine Stakes, getting up late to win by three-quarters of a length. The 4-year-old Unusual Heat filly, out of Brazilian Group 1-placed stakes winner Branca Como Neve, has won six of 13 races for career earnings of $289,498.

Homebred in California by owner Seyyed Nilforushan, Unusual Hottie was consigned by Old English Rancho, agent, at the October sale.

Earlier on the card, My Cinsation prevailed in a $66,164 allowance race by 1 3/4 lengths to notch her third victory in four career starts for earnings of $117,480.

The 4-year-old Cindago filly was bought for $27,000 at the 2010 Barretts October sale by Phil Lebherz, who co-owns the horse with Edward Brown Jr. and Alan Klein. Out of the winning Bertrando mare Nandu, My Cinsation was consigned as agent by Havens Bloodstock Agency.

Also winning on Saturday was He Be Fire N Ice, who won a $67,886 allowance race on the turf by 1 3/4 lengths. The 5-year-old son of Unusual Heat, out of the stakes-placed winning Deputy Commander mare Deputy Tombe, was a $28,000 purchase out of the 2009 October sale by Barbara Ranck and Ron Perry, consigned as agent by breeder St. George’s Farm. The victory improved his record to three wins from 10 career starts for earnings of $132,370.

The 2013 Barretts October yearling sale will be held Tuesday, Oct. 8 at Hinds Pavilion at Fairplex Park in Pomona, Calif.
