Barone Cesco, Concrete Glory main players in Thursday allowance
HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Trainer Antonio Sano, who sent out the 2-year-old Simplification to a 16 3/4-length maiden win on Saturday, has another promising juvenile in his barn in Barone Cesco, who may be the one to beat Thursday in a $52,000 entry-level allowance at about 5 1/2 furlongs on the Tapeta track.
Barone Cesco nearly became a stakes winner in his previous outing, finishing a late-running third, beaten a neck by winner Last Leaf, in the Hollywood Beach going five furlongs on the turf for which he earned a career best 69 Beyer Speed Figure. Thursday will mark his first try over the all-weather surface in his fourth start.
The field of seven includes Concrete Glory, who has the advantage of having won a race over a synthetic track when breaking her maiden under a $20,000 claiming tag on Sept. 21 at Presque Isle. A son of Bodemeister, Concrete Glory was beaten a combined 72 3/4 lengths in his first four starts before improving suddenly in the maiden race. He bounced right back with an even better performance, registering a 7 3/4-length allowance victory over the main track at Thistledown. He earned an 84 Beyer, easily tops in this lineup.
Also in the field are Full Disclosure and Trikitraki, both wire-to-wire winners of their only start. One More Score, Laki Lio, and Laynes Knight complete the field.
