Barbaro still recovering

Barbaro, the Kentucky Derby winner who was seriously injured in last Saturday's Preakness Stakes, on Friday was reported as acting and eating well, according to Dr. Dean Richardson, chief of surgery at the George D. Widener Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania's New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, Pa.

"He looks good, everything is fine and his appetite is particularly good," said Richardson, who last Sunday inserted 27 screws into Barbaro's shattered right hind leg, which sustained three fractures.
