Bar of Gold looks to break through in Honorable Miss Handicap

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The talented New York-bred Bar of Gold once again will seek her first graded stakes victory when she runs in Wednesday’s Grade 2, $200,000 Honorable Miss Handicap at Saratoga.
Bar of Gold is 4 for 4 against New York-breds but is winless in eight graded stakes tries. Last summer at Saratoga, she finished second to Cavorting in the Grade 1 Test and Grade 2 Prioress.
On Saturday morning, Bar of Gold blew out three furlongs in 36.44 seconds.
“She’s beaten so many Grade 1 winners in her career, and to not have a graded stakes herself,” trainer John Kimmel said while shaking his head.
Bar of Gold drew the outside post in a seven-horse field. She will be ridden by Junior Alvarado.
Probable favorite Paulassilverlining drew the rail for the fourth consecutive race. In her last two efforts, she won the Grade 3 Distaff and Grade 3 Vagrancy.
The remainder of the Honorable Miss field is Disco Chick, La Madrina, Haveyougoneaway, Diva Express, and Sarah Sis.
