Bank On Shea, A Freud of Mama have options moving forward

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – The Aqueduct winter meet is only a week old and already the richest races of the season have been run.
Bank On Shea and A Freud of Mama won the $500,000 divisions of the New York Stallion Stakes for males and females, respectively.
Bank On Shea beat favored Dream Bigger by a nose in Saturday’s Great White Way division. The son of Central Banker ran seven furlongs in 1:26.59 over a sloppy track and earned a 77 Beyer Speed Figure.
Owned by Shea D Boys Stable and trained by Jason Servis, Bank On Shea would be a candidate for many races, including the Rego Park Stakes at 6 1/2 furlongs on Jan. 12 and/or the Gander Stakes going a mile on Feb. 16, both restricted to New York-breds.
A Freud of Mama beat Hutchy by 1 1/2 lengths in the Fifth Avenue division on Sunday, covering seven furlongs in 1:25.81 and earning a Beyer of 65.
A Freud of Mama, trained by Mike Maker for William Butler, will likely stretch out in distance with the $100,000 Maddie May for New York-bred fillies going a mile on Feb. 23 a possible next start.
In April, there is a $200,000 Stallion Stakes race available for each gender.
