Balmoral: Sunday 9/9 Analysis

Race 1

(7) MAEVEY GRAVY is starting to separate herself from the rest; three in a row and 7 for 14 this year. (1) POWERFUL STAR is very fast and talented. She only has one win on the year, but with post and tactical speed should get a piece. (3) RUBYS AND PEARLS just needs a good trip to upset.

Race 2

(7) RECOLLECTION drew off in a powerful and convincing fashion last time. (6) FOX VALLEY STEFFEN was only a half length off of the top one last time out. (1) BLOWN AWAY has no wins on the year and likes to chase; completes the exacta or trifecta? (3) DIAMOND JOE looks like the best of the rest; 5 for 10 on the year versus a lower circuit.

Race 3

(3) NINA COLEADA has been facing better up in Canada and shows some very good miles. She picks up a top driver in a very good spot tonight. (7) CHINA GAL is a classy mare who always gives an A-plus effort; post is a drawback. (6) FOX VALLEY PRALINE was razor-sharp in her last start. This will be the 4th start of the year for this one and is in a lot tougher than previous starts.

Race 4

(2) BROOKLYNS DESIRE broke last start. This horse has one big move and if timed right, he can brush past for a hot trainer. (8) GALACTIC STAR went a tough trip in the same class last out. I have a feeling he will try new tactics tonight and leave; big chance. (7) UNITY ROAD will probably be an overwhelming favorite and other horses have more back class; wouldn’t recommend taking short price.

Race 5

(2) MYSTICAL VICTRESS is an ultra-sharp classy mare who has won 7 of 8 and dominated these recently. (5) FOX VALLEY ABSOLUT gets the nod as the second call due to tactical speed; will be on or near the lead the whole mile (4) FOX VALLEY TOUCHE has come back good as a 4-year-old and has a chance to be right there on the money. (8) KISSED BY THE SUN has been racing very well, but is a bit overmatched; may complete the tri or super.

Race 6

(8) POWER OF TARA N drops from the Invite and has good tactical speed. He should be right there on the money as top choice. (1) WASHINGTON HANOVER & (1A) LENNOX BLUE CHIP form a powerful entry, with the both dropping out of the Open. But note the time off for the former. I prefer the latter, as he has been facing better as well. (3) BROOKLYN FLIGHT IS shipping in from Maywood to the big track. He adds Lasix for the second time, which is a positive.

Race 7

(2) I KILL TIME hails from a driver/trainer combination that hits at a huge clip. Throw in the fact that she’s dropping and it’s a bonus. Also, she has a partner in (2a) ODDS ON JAN, who is a very well bred 3-year-old with a fast mark at a mile track. (6) PILGRIMS HALEY is an ultra-talented 3-year-old which hasn’t lived up to his talent yet owns a big kick home. (7) IDEAL NECTARINE has been very inconsistent in her last few and has ability, but don’t take a short price.

Race 8

(1) The light has gone on for JJ SHARK and the 3-year-old gelding picks up a top driver and has been razor sharp; expect a good effort. (5) LIKEATHUNDERBOLT is very talented and in easier than what he’s been facing; could shape up to be a two-horse race. (7) MY BOY CAL could be a sneaky longshot play. Looks like the only other horse in here capable of getting his picture taken; blasted home in :27 flat last out.

Race 9

(1) ZAMBRANO is 3 for 3 since the trainer change. Roberts gets along really well with this nice looking 3yo. If he mines his manners, he will probably win easily. (5) INCREDIBLE CAMPER is a lightly raced horse that is pacing up a storm and gets the nod as my second choice. (8) DAVES BID takes a key drop in class and if he can get a good trip with cover, he could definitely upset; owns good late kick. (3) ANOTHER BEAUTY will likely try for the top and hope to get a pocket trip; needs more.

Race 10

(4) SERGEANT STRYKER is a 3yo that has found his stride. With any kind of a trip he should be on the money. (5) LIGHT IN THE ROOM was pacing up a storm before he broke last out; contender. I have a feeling (8) BUFFALO JOE didn’t like the slop last out. if he races back to a few weeks ago, he could definitely get a piece.

Race 11

(1) YERMANOS makes his first start off the claim for new trainer who has been hot; could be one to beat (4) IDEAL JOE has been storming home from impossible spots and will be much closer tonight. (6) BURSTING BLAZE was a winner at big odds last time out, but will be much shorter this time; needs trip. (9) SHAX could fire to the lead and be tough if he gets everything his way; doubtful.
