Baffert finds 'Quality' at sale

DRF Staff|Sep 16, 2001

An Elusive Quality colt out of the Axe II mare Glimmer Glass was sold for a session-high $300,000 Sunday at the sixth day of the Keeneland September yearling sale.

Trainer Bob Baffert signed the sale ticket for the colt, who was cosigned by agent Mill Ridge Sales out of Elusive Quality's first crop.

The colt is a half-brother to stakes winner Kohen Witha K. and Squall Linda, who placed in Grade 3 company.

Sunday's total receipts on 254 lots amounted to $12,836,300 as sales declined 13.48 percent from 2001 when 304 lots were sold for $14,835,400.

Overall, gross sales are down 11.1 percent from last year as 1,358 horses have been sold for $224,896,000 through six session, compared to 1,542 for $252,977,900 in 2000.
