Australia: Trio of last-out winners meet in handicap at Gosford
Dolphina, Mehajir, and Midori Fuji, all last-race winners, will meet for the first time in a one-mile handicap at Gosford Racecourse in Australia on Wednesday evening across American time zones.
The lightly raced Mehajir, a winner of 2 of 4 starts, may hold a slight edge over her two talented rivals considering her recent wins and stalking style.
Trained by Nathan Doyle, Mehajir has won her last two starts – a maiden race at 7 1/2 furlongs at Hawkesbury Racecourse on Sept. 29 and her debut against winners in a one-mile handicap at Kembla Grange on Oct. 13.
In both races, Mehajir raced near the front and rallied to lead late. To do so at Gosford, Mehajir must overcome an inside post in a field of eight. Mehajir will be ridden by Kolby Jennings, who replaces Kerrin McEvoy. Jennings has ridden Mehajir in training races.

She’s Independent, who figures to be a longshot, is likely to set the pace, with Mehajir not too far behind.
Midori Fuji, who beat maidens in her third start on Oct. 16, and Dolphina, a winner of 5 of 21 starts, tend to run from farther off the pace.
Midori Fuji has had two starts this year, finishing sixth in a maiden race at Goulburn on Oct. 2 before recording an emphatic win by 6 1/2 lengths at seven furlongs at Nowra on Oct. 16.
Trained by Bjorn Baker, Midori Fuji will have her first start a mile at Gosford.
Dolphina has won three times at a mile, including a handicap at Kembla Grange on Oct. 13 in which she closed from eighth of 10 to record a neck win at 10-1. The victory ended a six-race losing streak.
Gosford has an eight-race program beginning at 10:15 p.m. Eastern or 7:15 p.m. Pacific. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.
