Australia: On a Promise looks to extend winning streak
On a Promise has won his last five starts in Australia, working his way from an official handicap rating of 45 in April to a current figure of 65. The wins occurred from early August to late October in races ranging in distance from 5 1/2 to seven furlongs.
On a Promise, who has won 10 of 35 starts, can extend the winning streak in a seven-furlong handicap at Orange Racecourse on Tuesday. To do so, On a Promise will race without his regular rider Clayton Gallagher.
Gallagher rode On a Promise in three of the wins in the streak, including his most recent start in a seven-furlong handicap at Coonabarabran Racecourse on Oct. 24. For the race at Orange, apprentice jockey Casey Waddell takes the mount, while Gallagher is on another leading contender in the 6-year-old gelding Larynx.

Larynx and On a Promise are part of a field of 12 in the sixth race on a seven-race program that begins at 9:50 p.m. Eastern or 6:50 p.m. Pacific on Monday. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.
Larynx won consecutive starts in sprint handicaps at Dubbo on Oct. 30 and at Warren on Nov. 7 before a second-place finish by slightly less than a length in a seven-furlong handicap at Mudgee Racecourse on Dec. 3.
This is the second start after a four-month layoff, and potentially an easier race, for the 4-year-old filly Twice on Sunday, a winner of 2 of 10 starts for trainer Bjorn Baker. Twice on Sunday was eighth of 12 at 25-1 in a handicap at 6 1/2 furlongs at Warwick Farm on Dec. 1, but could be favored over On a Promise or Larynx in this field.
Twice on Sunday won consecutive starts earlier this year in a maiden race at seven furlongs at Hawkesbury Racecourse in June and a one-mile handicap at Kembla Grange on July 8. In both races, Twice on Sunday raced near the front.
