Australia: Power Me Up in good form for Winter Cup on Tuesday
Power Me Up won consecutive races at Albury Racecourse in Australia in April and May to revive a career that had a quiet start in 2021. The success can continue in the minor Winter Cup at a mile at Sapphire Coast Racecourse south of Sydney on Tuesday.
Power Me Up has won 3 of 15 starts, and has never been in better form than his last two races. The win in April ended a five-race losing streak since a maiden race win last November.
Trained by Mitchell Beer, Power Me Up will race at Sapphire Coast for the first time Tuesday, but should fit the distance, having won handicaps at 7 1/2 furlongs and a mile at Albury. In those wins, Power Me Up was always near the front and took the lead in the final furlong.

The Winter Cup drew a field of 10, including the former listed stakes runner Upper House, a 6-year-old gelding.
The Sapphire Coast program begins at 10:30 p.m. Eastern, or 7:30 p.m. Pacific, on Monday. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.
Upper House is winless in five races since February, including three appearances without success in minor stakes or more prestigious cup races. Throughout his 50-race career, Upper House has been a specialist in races at seven furlongs to a mile, frequently racing as a closer.
Aside from Power Me Up, the only other runner in the field with a win in his last start is Zariz No Other, a 6-year-old gelding who ended a six-race losing streak with a 70-1 upset in a handicap at about seven furlongs at Queanbeyan Racecourse on May 16.
Zariz No Other is quick enough to set the pace. Apprentice jockey Ellen Hennessy, who was aboard on May 16, has the mount in the Winter Cup.
