Australia: Pinky stretches out at Muswellbrook
Pinky has been an unlucky filly in her last two starts. She may be able to reverse her luck at Muswellbrook Racecourse on Sunday evening.
Pinky raced in traffic in the final furlong and was fourth in a handicap at 6 3/4 furlongs at Wyong Racecourse on Dec. 24. She closed from well off the pace after a slow start and finished fifth in a handicap at 7 3/4 furlongs at Canterbury Park on Jan. 6.
Trained by Annabel Neasham, Pinky has had five starts, and she won against maidens at 6 1/2 furlongs at Scone on Dec. 9 in her third start.

The way she has finished in her last two starts indicates the about 1 1/16-mile distance of Sunday’s race at Muswellbrook is achievable.
Pinky is part of a field of eight in the second of seven races on a program that begins at 10:10 p.m. Eastern or 7:10 p.m. Pacific. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.
Pinky will be ridden by Alysha Collett, and will carry 121 pounds. Oakfield Warpaint (133) and Crime Spree (129) are the other leading contenders. Collett was aboard Pinky for her maiden race win.
Oakfield Warpaint, a winner of 4 of 25 starts, was ninth at 90-1 against a much better class of handicap runners at 1 1/4 miles at Doomben Racecourse on Jan. 21. Oakfield Warpaint is winless in three starts since winning a one-mile handicap at Wyong on Dec. 8. The 5-year-old gelding closed from fourth in that race to win at the distance for the second time in his career.
Crime Spree, a winner of 2 of 12 starts, closed from eighth winning a handicap at Armidale Racecourse on Jan. 23. The win was Crime Spree’s second and it was his first start since early October.
