Australia: Order Again looks to end skid in Rowley Mile
Order Again has gone nearly 15 months without a win in Australia, racing at some of the country’s top tracks in minor stakes or handicaps in recent months.
A journey to a smaller venue – Hawkesbury Racecourse on the outskirts of Sydney – on Thursday for the $108,600 Rowley Mile could provide an elusive win.
Order Again was sent to trainer Chris Waller after a ninth-place finish by 3 1/4 lengths in a handicap at Sunshine Coast Racecourse in late April. For Waller, Order Again is winless in five starts, finishing second, third, or fourth in each race.
This will be a fast turnaround for Order Again, who was fourth of 12 in the Spring Preview Handicap at seven furlongs at Royal Randwick last Saturday, beaten 3 1/4 lengths by Man of Peace, who won his third consecutive start in that race as the slight favorite.
A 7-year-old New Zealand-bred gelding, Order Again, who starts from the rail at Hawkesbury, will carry 124.5 pounds in the Rowley Mile, less than topweight Carif at 130 pounds.
Carif has not started since a second-place finish in the Group 2 Chairman’s Stakes at 1 5/8 miles at Randwick in April. Carif was 11th at 200-1 against an outstanding field of milers in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes at Randwick in February. He seems better suited to longer races.
The Hawkesbury program begins at 10:45 p.m. Eastern, or 7:45 p.m. Pacific, on Wednesday. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.

Waller trains three of the 12 runners, including the mares Savacool and Toryjoy, who will each carry 119 pounds.
Savacool was second in the Group 3 Tattersall’s Cup at 1 1/2 miles at Eagle Farm on June 13 in her latest start. This is Savacool’s first start at a mile since a third in the Group 3 Aspiration Stakes at Randwick in March. While that race is encouraging, Savacool is winless in 14 starts since a handicap at 1 1/8 miles at Flemington Racecourse in November 2018.
Toryjoy, a 6-year-old mare, was second by a length in a handicap at 1 1/8 miles on the Kensington course at Randwick on July 18 after setting the pace. A five-time winner in 29 starts, Toryjoy is capable of setting the pace in the Rowley Mile
