The 4-year-old filly One Aye could start in a seven-figure race in November, pending the results of Sunday’s Forbes Cup at a mile at Forbes Racecourse in the New South Wales countryside. The Forbes Cup is a qualifying race for the newly created The Big Dance Stakes at a mile at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney on Nov. 1. The Big Dance has a purse of $1.39 million and is restricted to horses that have finished first or second in 26 qualifying races from last October to Oct. 9 this year at tracks in New South Wales. After the Forbes Cup, eight qualifying races remain on the schedule. :: Get free past performances, analysis, and picks for Australian racing One Aye will have her second start after a five-month layoff in the Forbes Cup. In her comeback at Rosehill Gardens on July 16, One Aye finished third by 2 3/4 lengths at 20-1 in a seven-furlong handicap. One Aye has won 4 of 16 starts, and is winless in three starts at a mile, including a second and a third. She was a slight favorite at 4-1 as of Friday for the Forbes Cup, which will have a maximum field of 14. Quayde Krogh, who has ridden One Aye in her last four starts, retains the mount. One Aye will carry minimum weight of 122.3 pounds under the handicap conditions of the Forbes Cup. Ready to Humble, the 9-2 second choice, will carry 127.8 pounds, while topweight Dynmatic Impact, a 9-1 chance, will carry 136.6 pounds. Ready to Humble is winless in his last seven starts, but was second at odds of 3-4 in the Narrandera Cup at a mile at Narrandera Racecourse on July 17, losing by three-quarters of a length after leading in the stretch. The narrow loss was Ready to Humble’s best result in six starts this year, and a good prep for the Forbes Cup. Forbes has an eight-race program beginning at 10:20 p.m. Eastern or 7:20 p.m. Pacific on Saturday. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.
