Australia: October Revolution right at home for Sunday handicap

Steve Andersen|May 27, 2023

October Revolution is at home at Port Macquarie Racecourse in Australia, both in daily training and racing.

A winner of 2 of 13 starts, October Revolution was a good second in a five-furlong handicap at Port Macquarie on May 19, closing from last of eight to miss by a head.

The late kick leaves October Revolution favored in a five-furlong handicap at Port Macquarie on Sunday evening. A 3-year-old gelding, October Revolution is trained by Neil Godbolt, who is based at Port Macquarie.

Aside from the recent second, October Revolution has had his last three starts at Port Macquarie, a span that includes a win in a five-furlong handicap on April 8.

October Revolution has inherited the role of topweight at 135.5 pounds for Sunday evening’s race, which drew a field of 14. Iobject was assigned topweight of 136.6 pounds, but the presence of apprentice jockey Rochelle Wedrat-Kroezen reduces the assignment to 130 pounds.

Wedrat-Kroezen began riding last year. She ride infrequently, but won two of 10 mounts from April 15 through Friday.

Iobject is another Port Macquarie specialist, having won at the venue in his most recent start in January in a six-furlong handicap.

Similar to October Revolution, Iobject races from off the pace.

Of the 14 runners, nine have won at Port Macquarie, including Telegraph. A 4-year-old gelding, Telegraph has won 2 of 13 starts. He won a five-furlong handicap at Port Macquarie on May 16 in his latest start, ending a six-race losing streak.

While Iobject, October Revolution and Telegraph are closers, Cavente is quick enough to set the pace, and is another runner who knows the course. Cavente won a five-furlong handicap at Port Macquarie in January, but has finished sixth and fifth in five-furlong handicaps this month.

His somewhat unreliable record leaves Cavente as a 10-1 outsider in early betting.

Port Macquarie has an eight-race program beginning at 10:05 p.m. Eastern, or 7:05 p.m. Pacific. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.
