Australia: Oakfield Prince looks to snap losing streak at Wyong
Oakfield Prince, a veteran of 26 races, has finished second in his last two starts in Australia since mid-August, losing by a neck and three-quarters of a length.
The near-misses make Oakfield Prince the favorite to end a 21-race losing streak since June 2021 in a one-mile handicap at Wyong Racecourse on Wednesday evening, provided he can hold off a late threat from the upstart filly Moritz Girl.

Moritz Girl, a winner of 2 of 3 starts, was the second choice in early betting on Tuesday for the race at Wyong, her second start at a mile. She won her debut at the distance in a handicap at Canberra Racecourse on Sept. 15, closing from seventh in a field of 13 to win by a neck as the 2-1 second choice.
The race at Wyong represents a class jump for Moritz Girl. A 3-year-old Southern Hemisphere filly, Moritz Girl will be ridden by Alysha Collett for trainer Annabel Neasham.
Collett has ridden Moritz Girl in her last two starts, including a second by about 2 1/2 lengths in a handicap for fillies and mares at 6 1/2 furlongs at Hawkesbury on Sept. 2 in her first start in nearly four months.
At Wyong, Moritz Girl has a favorable weight assignment, carrying 124.5 pounds compared to 130 for Oakfield Prince.
Trained by Kris Lees, Oakfield Prince’s lengthy losing streak will discourage some backers, but the three-time winner was a game front-runner in a one-mile handicap at Wyong on Sept. 1 before he was caught late by Blackcomb, losing by three-quarters of a length.
Moritz Girl and Oakfield Prince are part of a field of 11 in the fourth race on an eight-race program at Wyong that begins at 11:05 p.m. Eastern or 8:05 p.m. Pacific. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.
