Australia: Notabadsuspect likely will get job done at Gosford

Steve Andersen|Oct 04, 2022

Four races into his career, Notabadsuspect has one win in Australia and seems to be improving as the distances increase.

The winner of a maiden race at 6 1/2 furlongs on Sept. 2, Notabadsuspect finished fourth by slightly less than a length in his debut against winners in a handicap at 7 1/2 furlongs at Hawkesbury on Sept. 22.

A 4-year-old gelding, Notabadsuspect will race at a mile for the first time in the first race at Gosford Racecourse on Wednesday evening across American time zones. Gosford has an eight-race program beginning at 10:25 p.m. Eastern or 7:25 p.m. Pacific. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.

Notabadsuspect was favored at 9-5 in early betting as of Tuesday. At Hawkesbury, Notabadsuspect rallied between runners and missed second by approximately a neck.

Trained by Jim and Greg Lee, Notabadsuspect is part of a field of eight and will be ridden by Glyn Schofield from post 7. A post toward the outside of the field should not a pose a problem for Notabadsuspect, who tends to race as a stalker.

Satness, second in the same race as Notabadsuspect at Hawkesbury on Sept. 22, is Notabadsuspect’s most significant rival and has considerably more experience. Satness has a single win in 16 starts. Despite the lack of wins, Satness was closing very well in the final sixteenth at Hawkesbury.

The lightly raced filly Nautical Miss will face winners for the first time at Gosford. She won a seven-furlong maiden race at Kembla Grange on Sept. 10, racing near the front throughout in her first start in nearly five months. This will be the first start at a mile for Nautical Miss.

Uncaged has a record similar to Satness, with one win in 13 starts. Uncaged tends to run near the front, and may set the pace from post 2 for jockey Alysha Collett. Uncaged’s best chance may be to steal the race from the front.
