Australia: My Whisper moves up and stretches out in Australasian Oaks
Through a current four-race winning streak, the Australian filly My Whisper has raced at increasingly longer distances.
A maiden race winner at six furlongs at the start of the streak in February, My Whisper won her stakes debut in the Group 3 Auraria Stakes at 1 1/8 miles at Morphettville Racecourse in Adelaide, Australia, on April 9, closing from seventh of 11.
The way My Whisper finished bodes well for her Group 1 debut in Saturday’s $357,100 Australasian Oaks at 1 1/4 miles at Morphettville. My Whisper, trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, will be ridden by Jamie Kah, who has been aboard for the 3-year-old filly’s three most recent wins.
My Whisper is part of a full field of 16 in the Australasian Oaks, the seventh race on a nine-race program that begins at 10:22 p.m. Eastern or 7:22 p.m. Pacific on Friday. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.

My Whisper was expected to be this good, considering she is by the highly successful stallion Frankel. She has not always raced from well off the pace. My Whisper won a one-mile handicap at Sandown Racecourse in Melbourne as a stalker on March 30.
While My Whisper has a highly attractive race record, she faces a tough rival in the Australasian Oaks in Daisies, who won the Group 3 Ethereal Stakes at 1 1/4 miles at Caulfield Racecourse last October.
Earlier this year, Daisies won the Group 3 Alexandra Stakes at a mile at Moonee Valley, edging Australasian Oaks contender Bon’s a Pearla, and was third by 4 1/2 lengths as the 9-10 favorite in the Group 3 Port Adelaide Guineas at 1 1/8 miles against males at Morphettville on April 9.
Bon’s a Pearla followed her loss in the Alexandra Stakes with a second in the Auraria Stakes, closing from off the pace to be closest to the front at the finish.
Bon’s a Pearla was third in the Group 1 Australian Guineas at a mile against males at Flemington Racecourse on March 5 and will start at 1 1/4 miles for the first time in the Australasian Oaks.
