A 5-year-old Australian-bred gelding, Marway will be favored in a field of 11, and will be ridden for the first time in a race by jockey Joshua Parr, who was aboard for a training race, or barrier trial, at about 3 3/4 furlongs at Randwick on Jan. 7. Marway has a good record in his second start after a layoff, having won three races from five such scenarios. Newnham has won with 11 of 50 starters from Jan. 6 through Saturday. Through Monday, Newnham ranked fourth among trainers in the state of New South Wales with 59 wins since the season began on Aug. 1. Chris Waller leads the standings with 104 wins. Waller has a contender in Wednesday’s race with Irish Angel, who was second to Marway at Warwick Farm. Irish Angel is winless in her last seven starts. She has one win in 14 starts. The pacesetter is likely to be Bombdiggity, who has won two of his last three starts. On Jan. 26, Bombdiggity returned from a three-month layoff to win a five-furlong handicap at Wagga Wagga Racecourse. The race will be a class test for The Neon Knight as well as his debut on the Kensington course. The Neon Knight has won his last four starts, all at lesser venues, beginning with a five-furlong maiden race on Dec. 7 and continuing with wins in five-furlong handicaps on Dec. 20 and Jan. 21 and a handicap at 4 1/2 furlongs at Newcastle on Feb. 6. Kensington has a seven-race program that begins at 10:20 p.m., Eastern, or 7:20 p.m., Pacific, on Tuesday. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.
