Australia: Margie Bee drops into a better spot at Warwick Farm
Margie Bee found a $115,000 stakes final at Wyong Racecourse in Australia on Jan. 2 too difficult for her, finishing sixth at 14-1 in a field of 14.
The 5-year-old mare fits better in a seven-furlong handicap for fillies and mares at Warwick Farm Racecourse in Sydney on Wednesday.

Margie Bee is part of a field of nine in the fourth race on a seven-race program that begins at 10:20 p.m., Eastern, or 7:20 p.m., Pacific, on Tuesday. Wagering and viewing is available through DRFBets.com.
Aside from the loss at Wyong, Margie Bee has run well in recent appearances, finishing second in a qualifying race at 6 3/4 furlongs on Nov. 26 at Wyong for the Jan. 2 final, and winning a one-mile handicap at the same venue on Dec. 10. She has won 5 of 29 starts in her career, which began in December 2018.
Trained by Kristen Buchanan, Margie Bee tends to run near the front and will serve as a target at Warwick Farm for expected favorite Havin’ Fun, who tends to run as a stalker. Havin’ Fun was sixth of 12, beaten two lengths, in a tough seven-furlong handicap at Royal Randwick on Dec. 19.
The seven-furlong distance is a good fit for Costanzia, who is trained by the red-hot Jason Deamer. Costanzia won a handicap at about 6 1/2 furlongs at Muswellbrook on Nov. 27, but was sixth of 13 at Newcastle on Dec. 19 in a qualifier for the same race series that led to the final on Jan. 2.
Costanzia finished about 5 1/2 lengths behind Itz Lily on Dec. 19. Itz Lily returned to win the final on Jan. 2.
Deamer has won with 3 of 9 runners this year through Friday and with 12 of his last 50 runners from Sept. 7 through Friday.
