Australia: Lady Redwood tries to double up
Lady Redwood has won 4 of 24 starts in her three-year career in Australia, but has yet to win consecutive races.
A recent victory in a handicap at 1 3/8 miles at Warwick Farm Racecourse in Sydney on Oct. 2 could lead to another win in a handicap at 1 3/16 miles at Gosford Racecourse on Wednesday evening.
Gosford has an eight-race program beginning at 10:10 p.m. Eastern or 7:10 p.m. Pacific. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.
With the win at Warwick Farm, Lady Redwood ended a four-racing losing streak since a win at 1 1/2 miles at Kembla Grange on Jan. 14. Earlier in her career, Lady Redwood won a maiden race at 1 1/16 miles and a handicap at 1 1/4 miles, suggesting the distance at Gosford should be in range for the 6-year-old New Zealand-bred mare.

Trained by Paul Murray, Lady Redwood runs from off the pace and is part of a field of eight at Gosford.
Majestic Style, also a New Zealand-bred filly, stands an excellent chance to win and may go favored. Majestic Style won a one-mile handicap at Gosford on Oct. 5 in her second start following a two-month layoff. Trained by Paul Perry, Majestic Style won a maiden race at a distance slightly longer than 1 1/8 miles last December.
A versatile filly, Majestic Style has won by leading and from off the pace.
Noble Empress will start at a new distance at Gosford.
Noble Empress is based at Gosford with trainer Neil Ward and has won 2 of 8 starts in her career. Both wins came at Gosford in one-mile races, making this start more of a stamina test.
Noble Empress is winless in four starts since a handicap in January. She was rested from early May to mid-September and has since finished eighth once and fifth twice. She was beaten three lengths in a one-mile handicap at Newcastle on Oct. 14 when unable to close ground in the final quarter-mile of a rapidly run race.
This longer race is likely to be run at a slower pace.
