Australia: Great Diviner, Zoist rematched at Morphettville
There was less than a half-length between Great Diviner and Zoist in a handicap at 6 1/2 furlongs on the infield Parks course at Morphettville Racecourse in Australia on July 17. Another close finish is possible when the pair meet again in a seven-furlong handicap at the same venue on Friday.
Great Diviner took the lead in the final furlong of the July 17 race and held off Zoist, who raced wide throughout. Zoist could have an advantage in the rematch.
Last September, Zoist won a seven-furlong maiden race at Murray Bridge Racecourse in his third start. This year, Zoist has won 2 of 4 starts, with both the wins at seven furlongs in handicaps. Trained by Tony and Calvin McEvoy, Zoist has drawn the outside post in a field of nine.

Great Diviner is sharp, having won his last two starts. Trained by Will Clarken, Great Diviner has won 3 of 6 starts in his career at distances ranging from five furlongs to the recent race at Morphettville at 6 1/2 furlongs.
Great Diviner has drawn the rail in this field. Jockey Todd Parnell is likely to take a patient approach with the 3-year-old gelding, who is best suited to racing from off the pace. Great Diviner has shown a sharp rally in his last several starts.
Poysed to Run is another closer with ability. A 5-year-old mare, Poysed to Run is a three-time winner at Morphettville, including a handicap at 6 1/4 furlongs on June 5 in her first start of the year. Poysed to Run has since finished fourth against a tougher field in a seven-furlong handicap at Flemington Racecourse on June 19, and sixth in a six-furlong handicap at Gawler on July 10, never reaching contention.
The eight-race Morphettville program begins at 10:45 p.m., Eastern, or 7:45 p.m., Pacific, on Thursday. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.
