Australia: Foxy Xenia looks to end win drought in Goulburn handicap
Foxy Xenia is winless in four starts since October in Australia, but there are clues she could be nearing a win.
Foxy Xenia was third in a handicap at 6 1/4 furlongs at Taree Racecourse on July 27, missing by about 1 1/4 lengths as the 9-5 favorite in her best performance of the year.
The losing streak can end Monday when Foxy Xenia starts in a seven-furlong handicap at Goulburn Racecourse. Trained by Robert Quinn, Foxy Xenia has won 2 of 6 starts and will have her Goulburn debut this week.
A 4-year-old filly, Foxy Xenia will start from post 9 in a field of 11, which should suit her stalking style. Foxy Xenia is expected to go favored over capable runners such as Boom and Zoom, Cyborg, and Howlowcanyougo.
Boom and Zoom was eighth as the 5-1 co-favorite in a handicap at about a mile at Sapphire Coast on July 25, but lost by only 2 1/2 lengths. Boom and Zoom was a more promising second in a handicap at 7 1/4 furlongs at Moruya Racecourse on July 12, missing by a head. Boom and Zoom could be the value among the leading contenders. A 5-year-old mare, Boom and Zoom was 5-1 with bookmakers in early betting.

Cyborg won a seven-furlong handicap at Narrandine Racecourse on July 18, beating a lower-class field. A winner of 4 of 18 starts, Cyborg has a similar stalking style as Foxy Xenia, but breaks from the rail. Mathew Cahill rode Cyborg at Narrandine and has the mount in this race.
Howlowcanyougo, the mount of apprentice jockey Nicholas Hyde, was second, about a head back, in a one-mile handicap at Sapphire Coast on July 25. He has won twice at seven furlongs in nine career starts at the distance.
Goulburn has an eight-race program beginning at 10:30 p.m. Eastern, or 7:30 p.m. Pacific, on Sunday. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.
