Dip Me Lid, who finished third, returned to win on Jan. 17. Tullys Gold will be joined as a closer by the 7-year-old gelding Ruban Bleu, who was the 5-2 favorite in early betting on Tuesday. Ruban Bleu was not helped by a slow start on Jan. 27, losing by 3 1/2 lengths. Mr Gee, seventh behind Tullys Gold on Dec. 23; and Milamoo, fourth by slightly less than 1 1/2 lengths in a one-mile handicap at Newcastle on Jan. 28, are two other contenders in Wednesday evening’s race. Mr Gee has won 5 of 26 starts, making him relatively lightly raced in this field. Milamoo has won 5 of 44 starts, and was second at 20-1 in the minor Cowra Cup at Orange Racecourse on Jan. 15, closing from fifth to miss by slightly more than a half-length.
