A drop in class and a return to a familiar venue has made Dynamic Impact an appealing favorite in a handicap at 6 1/4 furlongs at Canterbury Park in Australia on Tuesday evening. Dynamic Impact is unbeaten in two starts at Canterbury, including a win in a handicap at six furlongs on Dec. 16 in which he closed from last in a field of six to win by slightly less than a half-length. A winner of 6 of 24 starts, Dynamic Impact was fifth of eight in a handicap against a better class of runners in a six-furlong race at Rosehill Gardens on Jan. 14, closing from last to lose by slightly less than 2 1/2 lengths. Dynamic Impact’s closing style should be helped in a field of eight at Canterbury with the presence of runners such as Game Theory, Moralist, and What the Fuss, who have shown speed in recent starts.  :: Get free past performances, analysis, and picks for Australian racing Dynamic Impact is the topweight at 135.5 pounds, slightly more than other contenders such as Game Theory at 134.4 and Tawfiq Lass at 130. Game Theory was fourth behind Dynamic Impact on Dec. 16 and second in a six-furlong handicap on Dec. 18 at Gosford Racecourse, losing by a half-length after setting the pace.  At Canterbury, Game Theory will be ridden for the first time by top jockey James McDonald in the 5-year-old gelding’s 19th career start. Through Monday, McDonald led all riders in Australia in money earnings since the season began Aug. 1. Any sort of speed duel will help Tawfiq Lass who returned from a layoff of nearly five months to finish fifth by 2 3/4 lengths in a handicap at 5 1/2 furlongs at Canterbury on Jan. 6. Tawfiq Lass won a handicap at 6 1/4 furlongs at Canterbury last July. Canterbury has a seven-race program beginning at 10:20 p.m. Eastern, or 7:20 p.m. Pacific.
