Australia: Du Jour Idea facing easier, runs well fresh
A five-month layoff may not be a burden for the 4-year-old filly Du Jour Idea in a six-furlong handicap at Gosford Racecourse in Australia on Wednesday evening.
Du Jour Idea won a maiden race in her fourth career start following a layoff of more than three months in January and finished a good third in her next start in a six-furlong handicap in February.
Both of those races were at Gosford where Du Jour Idea is based with trainer Kylie Gavenlock.
The Wednesday evening race marks a slight drop in class for Du Jour Idea from a handicap against multiple winners to a first-condition handicap.

Du Jour Idea runs from off the pace and will be ridden by Mitchell Bell, who was aboard for the filly’s two races earlier this year.
Du Jour Idea is part of a field of nine in the fourth race on a seven-race program that begins at 10:50 p.m. Eastern or 7:50 p.m. Pacific. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.
In early betting on Tuesday, Du Jour Idea was an interesting price at 5-1 behind 5-2 Misty Dreams and Lika Sun and Never Sorry, who were both 3-1.
Misty Dreams, who will start from the rail, won a maiden race at 5 1/2 furlongs at Gosford on June 22 in her 18th career start. Similar to Du Jour Idea, Misty Dreams races from off the pace.
The lightly raced Lika Sun, a 3-year-old, has had a more promising start to her career, winning a maiden race at 5 3/4 furlongs on the Beaumont course at Newcastle on June 19 in her third start. This will be the longest race for Lika Sun, who was beaten a nose in a maiden race at 4 1/2 furlongs at Newcastle on May 30 in her second start.
Never Sorry tends to run slightly closer to the front. She has not raced since a fifth-place finish by 2 3/4 lengths in a seven-furlong handicap at Tamworth in March.
