Course conditions and a light weight assignment may work in favor of the 5-year-old mare Dream Inherit in a one-mile handicap at Wagga Wagga Racecourse in Australia on Thursday evening. Dream Inherit has won 2 of her last 4 starts, and 4 of 20 races in her career. The recent wins offer clues that Dream Inherit can score a minor upset in a field of nine at Wagga Wagga in the fifth race on a nine-race program that begins at 9:30 p.m. Eastern or 6:30 p.m. Pacific. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com. Dream Inherit won a seven-furlong handicap against a lower class of runners at Wagga Wagga on Oct. 23, but was overmatched when 12th of 16 against a tougher group at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse in Sydney on Nov. 11. :: Get free past performances, analysis, and picks for Australian racing After finishing sixth of seven in a one-mile handicap on soft turf at Canberra on Nov. 25, Dream Inherit rebounded to win a handicap at 1 1/8 miles on good turf on the Riverside course at Wagga Wagga. The race on Thursday evening is expected to be run on good turf, which Dream Inherit favors. All four of her wins have been on good turf; she is winless in seven starts on soft turf. Dream Inherit will be ridden by apprentice jockey Fiona Sandkuhl, reducing the weight assignment to 118 pounds, the lowest in the field. Sandkuhl, 23, had a two-win day at Albury last Saturday, and had won 56 races in her career through Wednesday. The speedy filly Dorami and stalker Ruban Bleu will dominate the betting. Dream Inherit was an interesting price at 6-1 early Wednesday. Dorami led throughout a four-runner handicap at 6 1/2 furlongs at Canberra on Dec. 8 for her second win in her last four starts. This is her first start at a mile, which may pose a test. Ruban Bleu is an 8-year-old gelding who has won 6 of 61 starts. Winless in 11 starts since April, Ruban Bleu was second by slightly more than 1 3/4 lengths in a one-mile handicap at Goulburn on Dec. 15, racing from a stalking position. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
