Australia: Bring Glory wants contested pace in Wyong handicap
With three career starts, Bring Glory is one of the most lightly raced runners in a five-furlong handicap Tuesday at Wyong Racecourse in Australia.
Bring Glory, a 4-year-old Australian-bred gelding, has won 2 of 3 races, a better record than One to Remember, a 2-year-old who has one win in three starts. This will be the first time One to Remember has raced outside of his age group, which occurs periodically in Australia racing at this time of year.
Bring Glory, who is expected to be a slight favorite, has not raced since a head win in a six-furlong handicap March 31 at Newcastle Racecourse, a result that reversed the disappointment of a ninth-place finish in a field of 10 on March 10 at Wyong. Trained by Brett Partelle, who is based at Wyong, Bring Glory won his debut in a maiden race at 4 1/2 furlongs on Jan. 30 at Scone Racecourse.
In his wins, Bring Glory has closed from off the pace. With this shorter distance of Tuesday’s race at Wyong, Bring Glory will need runners such as Special Date and Xiaoli’s Ying to take their customary positions near the front and ensure a quick pace.
Xiaoli’s Ying, a 3-year-old filly, has won 2 of 7 starts. Tuesday’s race will be her first since a second by a length as the even-money favorite at Scone in February. She won consecutive starts at five furlongs on turf late last year.

Special Date will carry top weight of 127.8 pounds, slightly more than Bring Glory at 125.6 pounds. Special Date, also a 3-year-old filly, has won 2 of 6 starts. She was 10th of 11 in a five-furlong handicap on July 2 at Hawkesbury in her first start since late February. She won consecutive starts at 4 1/2 furlongs in January and February.
First post time at Wyong is 10:20 p.m. Eastern, or 7:20 p.m. Pacific, on Monday. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.
