Australia: Brazen Impact finds good spot with Monday handicap
A measure of class relief in late September nearly put the Australian gelding Brazen Impact in the winner’s circle for the first time since January.
A 4-year-old gelding, Brazen Impact closed from last of nine to finish second by a nose in a five-furlong handicap at Goulburn on Sept. 23 as a 13-1 outsider.
The narrow loss has led Brazen Impact back to Goulburn for a five-furlong handicap on Monday evening across American time zones. Brazen Impact was the 5-2 second choice in early betting on Sunday.
Trained by Danny Williams, who is based at Goulburn, Brazen Impact has won 2 of 9 starts. The Sept. 23 race was his best result in two career starts at five furlongs.
After the January win, Brazen Impact was winless in five starts in lucrative handicaps at Royal Randwick Racecourse and Wagga Wagga Racecourse from late February to early September at distances ranging from five furlongs to a mile. His best result in that span was a fourth at five furlongs in February.
