Australia: Adelsun will look to rally in Scone handicap
From an inside post, the 4-year-old filly Adelsun is likely to race from the back of the field in a one-mile handicap at Scone Racecourse in Australia on Thursday evening.
Considering the rally she has shown at times in her 11-race career, Adelsun will not be trailing for too long. In each of her three wins, Adelsun has closed well from off the pace, including in her last start in a seven-furlong handicap at Tamworth Racecourse on June 9.
Christian Reith, who rode Adelsun on June 9, has the mount at Scone in the filly’s third attempt to win at a mile in recent starts. Adelsun was seventh by 2 1/2 lengths at Tamworth on May 15, and ninth by 2 3/4 lengths at Dubbo on June 2 in her previous starts at a mile.
Adelsun is part of a field of 10 in the second race on a nine-race program at Scone that begins at 9:45 p.m. Eastern, or 6:45 p.m. Pacific. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.
Adelsun is trained by Cameron Crockett, who had won with 8 of 50 runners from April 2 through Monday.

To win, Adelsun must hold off fellow closer Pioneer Lass, a winner of 3 of 20 starts. Pioneer Lass won a one-mile handicap at Nowra on June 1 for her third win in seven starts this year.
Pioneer Lass followed that win with a sixth-place finish by four lengths after a wide trip in a field of 18 in a lucrative handicap for horses based with countryside stables at Rosehill Gardens on June 17.
Rebel’s Edge will be the runner to catch in the stretch in what could be his second start of the week. The 4-year-old gelding won a handicap at a mile in May and was more recently second by four lengths to the odds-on favorite Smooth Esprit in a one-mile handicap at Dubbo Racecourse on Monday.
