Audible's next-race plans undecided
HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Trainer Todd Pletcher said Monday that Audible came back well from his fifth-place finish in Saturday’s Pegasus World Cup.
Audible, the reigning Florida Derby winner, was beaten 12 1/4 lengths by City of Light after breaking from post 10 and getting hung wide on both turns over the sloppy track.
“We were never really able to employ the strategy we had discussed for the horse because of the post,” Pletcher said. “We wanted to get away from the 10 hole and try to have him work his way over to the inside and save some ground because the rail appeared the best part of the track the whole day. Unfortunately, he just couldn’t quite get there and wound up being hung out four wide on both turns. But give the horse credit, he put forth a great effort trying hard all the way to the wire.”
Pletcher said he would have to talk to the owners before mapping out any future plans for Audible.
“We’ve got nothing picked out yet, but he’s nominated to the Dubai World Cup, so that’s a thought,” Pletcher said.
