Attfield, Wilson looking for third Natalma together with Ready Lady

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Jockey Emma-Jayne Wilson and trainer Roger Attfield have combined to take the Grade 1 Natalma at Woodbine twice, with Llanarmon in 2013 and Lady Speightspeare last year. They will try to win the $400,000 turf stakes again Sunday with the latter’s half-sister Ready Lady.
The one-mile turf event is a Breeders’ Cup Win and You’re In qualifier for the Juvenile Fillies Turf. Lasix is prohibited in the Natalma.
Ready Lady won her Aug. 28 debut in a seven-furlong maiden special on the main course in a professional manner under Antonio Gallardo. Wilson, who picks up the mount on the Charles Fipke homebred, was aboard when she outworked company in a five-furlong breeze in 1:01.20 on the main turf Sept. 11.
“She’s very, very classy,” Wilson said. “She comes from her family honestly. This filly is made a little differently than Lady Speightspeare. She’s a little heavier with a bit more scope to her. She seems to have a slightly different personality. She’s a little more nonchalant about things. Speightspeare is more intense and on the bit.”
Wilson was impressed with last weekend’s work, noting the daughter of More Than Ready was well within herself.
“When we straightened away, she did everything quite effortlessly,” Wilson said. “I’m excited about her.”

Trainer Mark Casse is sending out Diabolic, Cardio Princess, maiden Mrs. Barbara, and Muskoka Stakes winner Baksheesh, who has some turf breeding.
Unbeaten Diabolic is the division leader. She has won all three of her races from off the pace under Gallardo, including the 5 1/2-furlong My Dear Stakes on the Tapeta and the 6 1/2-furlong Catch a Glimpse Stakes on the main turf.
“She’s been so professional,” Casse said. “I thought her last race was very good because she didn’t have the best of trips. She saved ground and Gallardo had to sit on her and wait. She responded when the hole opened up.”
Japanese-bred Cardio Princess wired maiden-special opponents going five-eighths on the inner turf in her Aug. 22 opener.
“She’s very talented,” Casse said. “The mile might be a little far for her.”
Mrs. Barbara broke a bit slowly before closing for third in the Catch a Glimpse. She has improved significantly with every outing.
“If she learns to run in a straight line, she might be tough as well,” Casse said.
Wild Beauty is the lone European shipper in the 10-horse field. She’s coming off two straight runner-up finishes in stakes in England. Frankie Dettori has the mount for trainer Charlie Appleby.
Pizza Bianca came wide from seventh to capture her July 22 debut in a two-turn maiden special at Saratoga for owner-breeder Bobby Flay and trainer Christophe Clement.
“The owner is planning on being there, and we’re all excited,” Clement said. “For an owner-breeder, the black type is a big deal for him and the Grade 1 is also a big deal because it’s more than just one race, it’s a long-term plan.”
◗ Fifth Anniversary and Mo Touring are among a field of seven in Sunday’s other 2-year-old filly stakes, the $125,000 Woodbine Cares over five furlongs in the inner turf.
