At Attention capitalizes on quick pace in CTHS Sales Stakes
VANCOUVER, British Columbia – At Attention took advantage of a hot and contested pace to win the 3- and 4-year old colts and geldings division of the CTHS Sales Stakes on Saturday at Hastings. He paid $17.10. The 1 1/16-mile race was one of four $50,000 CTHS Stakes races on the eight-race card.
With Amadeo Perez riding, At Attention was well back while Toriador and Little Groot dueled through a sprint-like half-mile time of 45.74 seconds. He was within striking range at the six-furlong mark, hooked up with Toriador on the stretch turn, and drew off late.
The final time was 1:44.06.
The son of Shanghai Bobby was making his first start for trainer Dino Condilenios. He races for Peter Redekop.
Perez also was aboard Dad’s Legacy who made a strong late move to edge first-time starter Nine One One by a half-length in the 2-year-old colts and geldings division. The son of Bakken posted a final time of 1:18.74 for 6 1/2 furlongs and paid $3.30.
Dad’s Legacy is perfect in two starts for trainer Tim Rycroft. In his debut, he finished with a rush to win the $40,000 Canadian Juvenile on Aug. 16 at Century Mile. He races for Riversedge Racing Stables Ltd.
Heavily favored Northern Graystar came from a stalking position to win the 3- and 4-year-old filly division for owner-trainer Glen Todd.
The daughter of Graydar paid $2.90 for her convincing 1 3/4-length victory over Irish Luna in the 1 1/16-mile race.
The final time was 1:46.15.
Mi Reyna paid $21.40 for her half-length victory over Alberta Moon in the 2-year-old fillies division.
With Jose Asencio riding, the daughter of Bakken came from a stalking position to win the 6 1/2-furlong sprint. She posted a final time of 1:19.86.
