Dustin Orona Photography Adore won her 11th race from 23 starts in the Lone Star Park Turf Stakes.

Trainer Steve Asmussen won stakes in Texas and Louisiana last weekend and plans for both of those winners, Adore and Shang, are to be determined, he said Wednesday.

Adore captured the inaugural running of the $100,000 Lone Star Park Turf Stakes on Monday, and for her wire-to-wire win in the mile race for fillies and mares she earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 90.

“She’s so incredible,” Asmussen said. “She’s 11 for 23 now.

“I don’t have a specific race in mind for her. We’ll see what we think is right.”

Adore races for Winchell Thoroughbreds, and with her victory Monday she went over $500,000 in career earnings. She was ridden by Richard Eramia.

Shang won on Saturday night at Evangeline Downs, taking the $75,000 Louisiana Legends Cheval for 3-year-olds at a mile. He closed for a length win under Eramia, earning a Beyer Speed Figure of 80.

“He’s a very good Louisiana-bred,” Asmussen said. “I thought he ran really professional. Richard gave him a good trip.”

Shang races for Bill and Corinne Heiligbrodt. He was winning the third stakes race of his career. The son of Shanghai Bobby is 5 for 8.

“He’s going to stay in Louisiana for now,” said Asmussen,

Direct Dial to Lone Star stakes

Direct Dial, the reigning Texas-bred of the Year, will make his next start in the $50,000 Wayne Hanks Memorial at Lone Star Park on June 23, said his trainer, Steve Asmussen.

Direct Dial won the Spirit of Texas Stakes in March at Sam Houston. He last raced May 12, finishing second by a neck in a quick allowance sprint against open company at Lone Star.

The Wayne Hanks is a 6 1/2-furlong race for 3-year-olds and up bred in Texas.

Direct Dial, who last year completed a sweep of the Texas Stallion Stakes program in a division at Lone Star, races for his breeder, W.S. Farish.
