Asmussen wins five straight

Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen won five consecutive races Tuesday at Remington to tie a track record for trainer wins on a card.
Asmussen sent out the winners of the third through seventh races. Ramon Vazquez, who leads the jockey standings at Remington, rode the first four winners for Asmussen, while Donnie Meche was on the barn’s final winner on the card.
Asmussen on Tuesday also passed the $2 million mark in stable earnings at Remington, setting a track record for a meet, according to a press release from the track.
◗ Wasted Tears, a multiple Grade 2 winner of $941,463, has two of her foals running against each other in Friday night’s eighth race at Remington. Butler Field and Thru It All will represent her in the first-level allowance at a mile. Both horses are by Malibu Moon and both race for trainer Bart Evans, who also bred, owned, and trained Wasted Tears.
The brother act is one of two on the card. In the seventh race, the mare Ridgewell has two of her foals running against each other, the half-siblings Golden York and Mustang Eddie.
