Ashleyluvssugar turned out, will skip Del Mar November meet
ARCADIA, Calif. – Ashleyluvssugar, winner of two Grade 2 stakes for turf marathoners at Santa Anita in the spring, has been turned out for a rest, trainer Peter Eurton said Sunday.
Ashleyluvssugar left the Eurton stable at Santa Anita on Sunday morning for nearby Bradbury, Calif., where he will be based on a farm this fall.
Eurton had considered starting Ashleyluvssugar at the Del Mar November meeting.
“I’ll skip Del Mar and wait until next year,” he said. “I’ll let him get over a few body aches. I’ll give him a little time and bring him back as a 5-year-old. He’s been in training for a long time.”
Owned by Sharon Alesia, Bran Jam Stable, and Ciaglia Racing, Ashleyluvssugar won the San Luis Rey Stakes in March and the Charles Whittingham Stakes in May. The gelding was entered for the $75,000 King Pellinore Stakes at Santa Anita on Sept. 27 but was held out of the race because of illness, Eurton said at the time.
Ashleyluvssugar has won 6 of 13 starts and earned $515,504.
