Ashado featured in third season of Foal Patrol
The third season of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame's "Foal Patrol" project, which will highlight champions and Grade 1 producers among its featured performers this season, has officially launched, with its live camera feeds now available on the Hall of Fame’s official website for the project.
Foal Patrol features a collection of live cameras following the daily activities of individual broodmares, through foaling and the early months of the youngsters, and has also featured a behind-the-scenes look at high-profile young stallions in recent years. The first two seasons of Foal Patrol had more than three million total views from December 2017 through September 2019.
Hall of Fame racemare Ashado is among the mares who will be features as she prepares to foal this season. The two-time Eclipse Award champion won seven Grade 1 stakes, including the 2004 Kentucky Oaks and Breeders’ Cup Distaff. She resides at Godolphin’s Gainsborough Farm in Kentucky, and is currently in foal to the operation’s young stallion Frosted, with an expected foaling date of Feb. 23.
New Money Honey won the 2016 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf and 2017 Belmont Oaks. She will be featured on Foal Patrol from Indian Creek Farm in Kentucky, carrying her first foal, by popular international sire War Front. Her due date is Feb. 21. Other mares featured will be Alpine Sky (resides at Old Tavern Farm, in foal to More Than Ready, due date April 21); graded stakes winner Emotional Kitten (Denali Stud, Dialed In, April 25); Magical World, the dam of Grade 1 winner Guarana (Three Chimneys, Gun Runner, Feb. 14); Vaulcluse, the dam of Canadian champion Lukes Alley (Gainesway, War Front, March 16).
The young stallion Gun Runner, 2017 Horse of the Year, will also be spotlighted. The Three Chimneys’ resident’s first foals will be yearlings of 2020. He will be the second stallion featured, following Frosted in season two.
