CYPRESS, Calif. -- Up to Party remained unbeaten after five starts, and led a procession of runners trained by Monty Arrossa, with her win in Sunday’s $275,000 Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Racing Association Breeders’ Futurity at Los Alamitos.

Arrossa swept all six time trials on Aug. 25 and had the first six finishers in Sunday’s field of 10. Up to Party ($2.80) finished a neck in front of 4-1 Ultimate Battle, with 11-1 Party Time Tom a neck behind in third.

Arrossa’s Bottle It Up, Midnight Mood, and Fear N Fridays finished fourth through sixth. Arrossa’s clients collected $244,750 of the purse.

Up to Party, a filly by Kiddy Up, was timed in 17.55 seconds. Owned by Matt and Bendi Dunn, Up to Party was the second-fastest qualifier from the trials. Bottle It Up had the fastest qualifying time. His chances on Sunday were hampered after he was fractious in the saddling paddock.

The PCQHRA Breeders’ Futurity was Up to Party’s second stakes win, preceded by the $970,000 Ed Burke Million Futurity in June.

Up to Party and the gelding Party Time Tom are full siblings. The Dunns own Party Time Tom. They were bred via embryo transfer by Los Alamitos track owner Ed Allred and Tom Siebly. Up to Party, who was foaled in April 2022, was purchased for $12,000 at the Los Alamitos Equine Sale last October. Party Time Tom, foaled in February 2022, was bought for $33,000 at the same auction.

Arrossa said Up to Party will be considered for the Golden State Million Futurity at 400 yards, which has time trials on Oct. 5 and a final on Oct. 27.
