Arrieta to ride at Oaklawn meet

Jockey Francisco Arrieta will be riding at the Oaklawn Park meet that opens Jan. 22, said Jay Fedor, who will represent the rider at the Hot Springs, Ark., track. Arrieta is currently riding at Fair Grounds and is due at Oaklawn sometime after Christmas.
“He’s a young rising star,” said Fedor, who through the years has brought a number of top riders to Oaklawn.
Arrieta has been on a strong run the last three years. He won 186 races from 808 mounts in 2018, for a 23-percent win clip, according to Daily Racing Form records. The next year, Arrieta went 251 for 962 for a 26-percent strike rate. Canterbury and Zia Park were among his 2019 riding titles.
This year, Arrieta has gone 159 from 699 mounts for a 22-percent win rate. He was leading the standings at Sunland Park in March before that track was forced to close due to the pandemic.

Fedor also will represent Joe Rocco Jr., at Oaklawn.
Cabrera heading to Oaklawn
Jockey David Cabrera, who has a clear lead in the current standings at Remington Park, plans to winter at the Oaklawn Park meet, according to his agent, Jose Santos Jr.
Santos also will represent Ken Tohill at Oaklawn.
Cabrera is a multiple title winner at Remington and was to ride probable favorite Outadore in the $200,000 Springboard Mile on Friday night at Remington. He also is the regular rider of millionaire Welder.
Tohill, who is riding at Remington, has long been a perennial leading rider in New Mexico.
