Arnett sending division to Oaklawn
Trainer Jon Arnett, a winner of more than 1,850 races, said he plans to send a small division of horses to the Oaklawn Park meet that opens in January. It will be the first time he has had a string at the Hot Springs, Ark., track since 1983.
Arnett said he also will have horses at Sunland Park following the close of the meet at Zia Park.
Arnett will send a mix of horses to Oaklawn, including Tap The Admiral, who has won his last three starts at three different tracks and set a track record in October at Zia.
“He’s been well traveled, run on a lot of different tracks,” Arnett said of the horse, who won his maiden at Oaklawn. “We also have a little 2-year-old coming 3, one we’re hoping will pan out for us.”
Arnett in 2012 sent City Sage from New Mexico to Oaklawn and the barn of trainer Kelly Von Hemel. The horse won the $75,000 Hot Springs before returning to Arnett.
• Remington Park will have a special twilight post of 3 p.m. Central on Friday.
