Arlington names new racing chief

Arlington Park on Friday named Chris Polzin its new director of racing and racing secretary. Polzin is a veteran Chicago racing official, but never has held the head job in a racing office.

Polzin takes over for Kevin Greely, who left the position in October. Greely had served for three years, coming from Dubai to take over as Arlington's director of racing.

Polzin, 55, is a Chicago native and the son of Elmer Polzin, a former handicapper and turf writer for the Chicago Tribune. Polzin first worked as a racing official in 1982, and first worked at Arlington in 1985. Polzin has served as assistant racing secretary at both Hawthorne Race Course and Sportsman's Park, and has occupied that position at Arlington since 2005.

Polzin, currently working in the Hawthorne racing office, will take up his full-time duties at Arlington next month, the release said.
