The $40,000 Arapahoe Park Sprint in Colorado on Sunday has drawn invaders from Arizona, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Shivers Me should go favored in the six-furlong race that drew six starters, including recent Turf Paradise allowance winner Trip the General. Shivers Me is in from New Mexico, where he has won two stakes since last September. He took the $40,000 New Mexico State Fair by a nose going a 1 1/8 miles at the Downs at Albuquerque, and in more recent times won the $50,000 Inaugural Handicap at SunRay Park. But even though he has been a staple in New Mexico since last fall, Shivers Me has established some strong Colorado form. He is 4 for 8 over the local strip, among his wins the $31,000 Front Range at seven-eighths last July. Ty Garrett trains Shivers Me, who will be ridden by Don Frazier. Trip the General was second in a $30,000 optional claiming allowance sprint at Turf Paradise on May 1, and before that won an allowance at the Phoenix track. Russell Vicchrilli has the mount for trainer Molly Pearson. E F Five, whose three career wins have come at Arapahoe, will open his season in the Arapahoe Park Sprint. He was fourth in a local allowance in his last start Aug. 21, and before that won a statebred stakes at Arapahoe, which is located in Aurora, Colo. Travis Wales, who is winning with 19 percent of his starters at the young meet, has the mount for trainer Kenneth Gleason.
