Arapahoe Park: Gold Rush Futurity becomes Get Happy Mister's fourth straight win

Coady Photography Get Happy Mister improves to 4 for 4 at Arapahoe Park by winning the closing-day Gold Rush Futurity.

Get Happy Mister closed out a perfect Arapahoe Park meet on Sunday, when he drew out to a 9 1/4-length win over Southern California shipper Manewal in the $100,000 Gold Rush Futurity. It was another 8 1/4 lengths back in third to R S Watson.

Get Happy Mister improved his record to 4 for 4 with his win in the Gold Rush, a six-furlong sprint that served as the final race of the Arapahoe season. Get Happy Mister has registered all of his wins at the Aurora, Colo., track, beginning with a maiden special weight against Colorado-breds in June. He proceeded to win the $41,000 Colorado Thoroughbred Breeders Association Futurity by 10 1/2 lengths in July, then the $31,000 Silver Cup Futurity against open-company rivals in a 7 1/4-length romp Aug. 4.

In the Gold Rush, the horse was part of the pace with All Our Lass, with the horses rolling through fractions of 21.67 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.25 for the half-mile. Get Happy Mister took command of the field into the stretch, and went on to cover the distance on a track rated fast in 1:08.63. He paid $7.80.

Mike Ziegler rode Get Happy Mister for Tangarae Farms and trainer Kenneth Gleason. The horse is a son of First Samurai and with the $60,000 he picked up for winning Sunday, he pushed his career earnings to $110,821.
