Arapahoe Park: E F Five much the best in Aspen

E F Five asserted himself as a Colorado-bred sprinter of note on Saturday, when he drew clear by 4 1/4 lengths in the $40,000 Aspen for statebreds at Arapahoe Park. He covered the six furlongs in 1:09.15.
The race was one of two stakes on the card, with Baby I Like It ($6) taking the $75,000 Cherry Creek Futurity for Quarter Horses.
In the Aspen, E F Five ($15.80) stalked pacesetter Hewilltu through fractions of 22.07 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.49 for the half-mile mark. E F Five took over in the stretch to win by a clear margin over Major Big Time. It was another three-quarters of a length back in third to Hewilltu.
Travis Wales rode E F Five for owner Linda Robertson and trainer Kenneth Gleason.
In the Cherry Creek, Baby I Like It, the fastest qualifier, backed up that performance with a half-length win over Jessabelle James.
