Aqueduct's pick-six carryover grows to $98,633 for Withers Day; wet track expected

OZONE PARK, N.Y. - There will be a pick-six carryover of $98,633 entering Saturday’s card at Aqueduct after the wager was not hit Friday.
There was a carryover of $31,130 entering Friday’s card after that same carryover was taken out of Thursday’s pool triggered by the cancellation of Thursday’s last race. There was $118,425 in new money wagered into the pick six on Friday, approximately $72,000 less than was wagered into the pool on Thursday.
Friday’s sequence got off to a riveting beginning when Pendolino, the longest shot on the board at 39-1, won the fourth race returning $81.50. That result was followed by Write the Check ($22.80), Forty Two Ace ($30.20) and Gallina ($12). Though favored Mystic Night ($5) won the eighth race, the pick-six carryover was already guaranteed heading into the finale, which was won by Incontrovertible ($12.20).

Saturday’s pick six, which figures to be contested over a wet surface, begins on race 4 (2:18 p.m. eastern). The minimum field size, before scratches, of races in the sequence is nine. The sequence includes the Grade 3, $250,000 Withers Stakes for 3-year-olds, which drew a contentious race of 11.
