Aqueduct: Sweet Reason works again

Sweet Reason, last year’s Grade 1 Spinaway winner, breezed three furlongs in 37.71 seconds Monday morning over the Belmont training track. It was her second timed breeze since returning to trainer Leah Gyarmati’s barn in late December. Sweet Reason galloped out four furlongs in 52.41.
The work was done over a track rated fast but one that was gaining moisture as the morning went on due to increasing temperatures.
“If the track were a little better I would have gone a half,” Gyaramti said. “It still was useful; she went a nice little three-eighths, finished up good, galloped out okay. She looked happy afterwards, took her little walk in the sunshine.”
Gyarmati has not committed to a next race for Sweet Reason. The Busher on Feb. 1 could come up too soon, Gyaramati has stated.
Gyarmati also is keeping “all options open” for Street Gent, who worked five furlongs in 1:03.40 Monday morning. Street Gent, a front-running maiden winner at 1 1/8 miles here Dec. 1 is a candidate for the Withers on Feb. 1, a race that also has been mentioned for Noble Moon, his stablemate who won the Jerome on Jan. 4.
