Aqueduct: Pletcher will send out El Padrino and Our Entourage in Remsen

David Grening|Nov 22, 2011

El Padrino, a 12-length maiden winner at Belmont on Oct. 29, and Our Entourage, a maiden winner on turf, will represent trainer Todd Pletcher in Saturday’s Grade 2, $200,000 Remsen Stakes for 2-year-olds at 1 1/8 miles.

El Padrino, a son of Pulpit, finished second as the favorite in his debut at Saratoga and came out of that race with minor shin issues, Pletcher said. Over a sloppy Belmont main track on Oct. 29, El Padrino rolled to a 12 3/4-length victory.

Our Entourage, a son of Street Cry, won a maiden race on turf at Saratoga after getting beat 10 3/4 lengths by Fire On Ice in a dirt sprint at Saratoga in August. Pletcher said the Remsen hopefully will tell him on what surface to run Our Entourage during his 3-year-old season.

Others pointing to the Remsen are Done Talking, Managed Account, O’Prado Again, Souper Speedy, Speightscity, Stephanoatsee, and possibly Tiger Walk.

Disposablepleasure runs in Demoiselle

Pletcher will only have one runner, Disposablepleasure, in the Grade 2, $200,000 Demoiselle Stakes for juvenile fillies. The Demoiselle is run at 1 1/8 miles.

Disposablepleasure, a daughter of Giacomo, won a 1 1/16-mile maiden dirt race by 11 lengths at Belmont on Oct. 6. Her competition in the Demoiselle is expected to include Bourbonstreetgirl, Brown Eyed Nance, Captivating Lass, Dreaming of Cara, Indyniable, Lady Cohiba, and Wildcat’s Smile.

Hill returning to New York

Jockey Channing Hill, who missed the last 10 weeks due to a broken ankle, was set to return to the saddle this week. He was named on one mount Wednesday, one Thursday, and three Friday.

After riding the majority of the summer at Monmouth Park, Hill is returning to New York for the fall/winter meets here. Despite his injury, Hill finished 15th in the jockey standings at Monmouth with 18 wins from 179 mounts

Hill, 24 has enjoyed some success in New York specifically during his apprentice year of 2005, when he was this circuit’s leading apprentice with 105 wins. In 2010, he was this circuit’s 10th leading rider with 74 wins.

Hill is represented by agent Mike Monroe.
