Aqueduct: Noble Moon still on Wood fence

OZONE PARK, N.Y. - Trainer Leah Gyarmati remains on the fence about running Jerome Stakes winner Noble Moon in the Wood Memorial.
On Sunday, Noble Moon worked a mile in 1:46.05 in company with Gyarmati’s Grade 1-winning filly Sweet Reason.
While Sweet Reason, who won an allowance race in her 3-year-old debut on March 7, is a definite for the Grade 2, $300,000 Gazelle on April 5, Gyarmati said, “I am not committing” Noble Moon to the Wood at this point.
“It really is going to be a last-minute thing,” she said. “He has to come out of the next work breathing fire and making me think he wants to run, otherwise I’d feel a little nervous.”

Since winning the Jerome on Jan. 4, Noble Moon has dealt with issues to both his front feet, which forced him to miss training time. Sunday’s move was his fifth workout since Feb. 27.
Falcone wins for first time
Robert Falcone Jr. won for the first time as a trainer on Sunday when Alysaro took the fifth race, a $20,000 claiming event.
Falcone, 20, recently went out on his own after working for three years for trainer Dominick Schettino. Falcone trains five horses for his father, Robert Falcone Sr.
“We talked about this awhile ago,” Falcone said. “Dominick thought I picked up things quick, so we decided to give it a shot. I want to thank Dominick for all he did for me.”
Falcone, who grew up in Valley Stream, N.Y., won with just his sixth starter. “It was exciting, a great feeling, something you won’t forget,” he said.
The only bad news was Alysaro was claimed by trainer Chris Englehart.
“That’s the game,” he said.
