Aqueduct: Goldencents, Private Zone arrive for Cigar Mile
Goldencents, the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile winner, and Private Zone, the Grade 1 Vosburgh winner, arrived in New York Thursday afternoon for their scheduled engagements in the Grade 1 Cigar Mile here on Nov. 30.
Goldencents and Private Zone are stabled at Aqueduct and on Friday morning each jogged over the main track.
Jack Sisterson, the assistant to Doug O’Neill, said neither will have an official workout here, having had breezes before they left California. They arrived this early because initially Private Zone was going to run in Thursday’s Fall Highweight Handicap, before his connections changed plans.
“The only flight for them left Tuesday and [since] we didn’t want to ship in two days before the race we decided to come early,” Sisterson said, adding that after Private Zone was re-routed to the Cigar Mile, “We didn’t want to change the plan. Getting a couple of extra days over the track won’t hurt them.”
