NYRA photo Farhaan and jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. win the Lord of the Night Stakes by five lengths Sunday.
Farhaan rallied past pacesetter Colleen’s Sailor turning for home and widened to a five-length victory in Sunday’s $100,000 Lord of the Night overnight stakes, the last stakes race of 2013 in New York.
Running over a sealed inner track labeled “good,” Farhaan ($8.50), a homebred Shadwell Stable colt trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, ran one mile and 70 yards in 1:44.11 under Irad Ortiz Jr. to score as the second choice.
Colleen’s Sailor held second by 2 3/4 lengths over even-money favorite Praetereo, who gave chase from the outset and flattened out in the race restricted to nonwinners of a stakes race.
Speightscity, Aussi Austin, and Regulus completed the order of finish.
